Plea against cops in Behbal Kalan case

Faridkot,  A criminal complaint has been filed in the police firing incident of October 14, 2015, that led to the death of two Sikh protesters at Behbal Kalan village of Faridkot.
Resham Singh, a brother of one of the deceased, Krishan Bhagwan Singh, filed the complaint in the court of Judicial Magistrate Ist Class here today.
Resham Singh has demanded legal action against the then Moga SSP Charanjit Sharma, the then Faridkot SP Bikramjit Singh and the then SHO Bajakhana Amarjit Singh Kular.
In his statement recorded with the court today, Resham Singh alleged that his brother Krishan Bhagwan Singh of Behbal Khurd village and Gurjit Singh of Sarawan village were killed in the police firing. He alleged the police opened fire on the orders of Charanjit Sharma, Bikramjit Singh and Amarjit Kular.
He alleged the unprovoked police firing was started on peaceful protesters without any reason. These protesters were sitting on a dharna against the desecration of a “bir”.
The court has adjourned the case for March 18 to record the statement of other witnesses in this case.
Resham Singh alleged two FIRs were registered in incident at the Bajakhana police station on October 14 and 21, 2015. However, even 16 months later neither any accused had been named nor the police had taken any action against the accused, he said.
“My brother and Gurjit Singh were killed using illegal weapons and in an illegal way. As we failed in getting any justice from the police, so this complaint has been filed to get all guilty punished for the crime,” said Resham Singh.
