Kulgam: Four Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists and two army jawans were reportedly killed in a gun battle on Sunday morning in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district.
Acting on a tip-off by police, army cordoned off a village in Kulgam.
Three other militants, believed to be severely injured during the gunfight, managed to escape. Hunt is on to nab them, sources told PTI.
Security forces heard gunshots when they were cordoning off the area under Nagbal Fresal Police Station in Yaripora, Kulgam. The combing operation was on after the reported gun battle.
According to news agency ANI, security forces had recovered the bodies of slain terrorists, but the gun battle was still on.

The peace in the valley has remained on the fringes after Hizbul Mujahideen leader Burhan Wani was killed by the army in an encounter last year.
While the Line of Control has largely been peaceful in the last few weeks, there were record ceasefire violations from the Pakistani side this year.
